Our comprehensive care includes:

- Telepsychiatry Services (optional, secure service; out-of-pocket expense/not covered by insurance)
Opiate Addiction Treatment
If you are looking for a viable and effective treatment for opiate addiction without the difficulties of using alternatives like methadone, you and your doctor may want to consider prescription Suboxone® (buprenorphine) therapy.
Although opioids are highly effective pain relievers, they are not intended for long-term use. As such, opiate dependency can cause long-term damage by altering your brain chemistry. If you were prescribed Vicodin® or Percocet® for pain and became addicted to it, Suboxone therapy may provide the help you need.
Withdrawal symptoms from opiates can be severe, but Suboxone can reduce, if not eliminate, those symptoms. This form of therapy can be particularly beneficial for those who may not be able to manage withdrawal symptoms on their own such as the elderly, the disabled, or patients suffering from other diseases that make withdrawal especially challenging.
During the course of suboxone therapy, your pain doctor will administer the medication and monitor you with frequent visits to our office. Once you have discontinued using opiates and no longer experience cravings or side effects, your pain doctor will decrease your dosage of Suboxone. Exactly how long that will take will depend on your individual needs. However, with treatment and time, your brain health and chemical balance can be restored.
Suboxone therapy is a tool in an effective program aimed at restoring your mental wellbeing through medical monitoring, therapy intervention, and individual attention to your needs. It is a way to avoid the dangerous aspects of opiate addiction (e.g. IV drug use, not knowing the quality of medication procured on the street, the uncertainty of availability, etc.), while you settle into getting your life back together in the aftermath of addiction. It is also a way to come to grips with the reasons for your addiction and how to prevent it from recurring.
Suboxone therapy is available for eligible patients of PSY-Visions of Connecticut and we are here to help you understand your options. If you’d like to learn more about Suboxone therapy and receive the comprehensive service and effective care you need today from psychiatrist Dr. Mark Stracks, please call us at (203) 405-1745 today or use our confidential online form.
Dr. Stracks provides diagnostic evaluations for a variety of psychiatric conditions or disorders, including behavioral and addiction. The initial evaluation is typically completed in one session. We will spend time talking with you, and more importantly, listen as you talk to us. Only then can we can determine what we need to do together to help you start feeling better so you can live the life you deserve.
While medication management may be part of your recommended treatment plan, we are not interested in simply writing prescriptions. When we do suggest the use of medication, we always try to use the fewest agents at the lowest possible doses. Plus, we often recommend other treatment modalities to supplement the use of medication. If you choose not to take medication, we will always try to work with you to find an effective alternative solution.
Treatment for Substance Abuse and Other Addictions
One area in which Dr. Stracks specializes is addiction treatment. Never before has an addiction and those who struggle with it been at the forefront as it is now. Addiction affects people of all ages, genders, ethnicities, and socio-economic status. It is the unfortunate equalizer. We understand these struggles and the sensitivity with which they must be addressed. We also understand that treatment for mental health issues goes hand-in-hand with addiction treatment.
In certain cases, detoxification from alcohol and substances can be accomplished in an office setting. There are also medications that can curb the craving for substances, which may be appropriate to use in your case.
